The Bikini Chef – Saturday: 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Author, Host, Culinary Instructor, Healthy Lifestyle Expert
A southern belle from Georgia turned multi-published cookbook author, Susan did not set out to become a healthy lifestyle expert… becoming The Bikini Chef specializing in “figure flattering flavors” and promoting a healthy lifestyle actually found her along life’s journey.
“My first passion was always journalism”, says Susan. “Cooking was something I enjoyed to relax having learned cooking and nutrition essentials from my mom. Becoming The Bikini Chef just sort of happened to me as a result of living a healthy lifestyle and setting positive examples for others.”
Beginning as an intern for the CNN Atlanta Medical, Science, Nutrition, & Entertainment department, Susan fell in love with broadcasting but life sent her on a different adventure leading her to Los Angeles where ultimately she would combine her passion for journalism with her love for cooking. ” I would go home everyday and cook. Finally, I decided to write a cookbook!” exclaims Susan. Thus Cooking With Susan, Southern Family Favorites and The Bikini Chef was born. “Southern cooking is not always what I have now termed ‘bikini cuisine’,” explains Susan. “I started teaching healthy recipes and sharing what I do to live a healthy ‘bikini’ lifestyle. My students began calling me ‘The Bikini Chef’ because both my recipes and my lifestyle are healthy so we can all look fabulous in our bikinis.” “I love it. I want to shout out to everyone that being ‘bikini’ is fun, everyone can do it, and the food tastes GOOD!,” exclaims Susan. “Healthy food and a healthy lifestyle is NOT boring.”
To hone her professional culinary skills, Chef Susan Irby jetted to a chefs culinary dream…Italy and France. “Working in Florence, Italy and Bourgogne, France was the experience of a lifetime,” says Susan. “The fundamentals of my now termed ‘bikini cuisine’ came from working with fresh herbs, fresh citrus fruits, and using them as the foundation for flavor. They are perfect ingredients because they are packed with flavor and nutrients but are not packed with calories and fat.”
Today, Chef Susan Irby the Bikini Chef is author of seven books including Substitute Yourself Skinny and Boost Your Metabolism. Susan hosts a weekly radio show, The Bikini Lifestyle with Susan Irby the Bikini Chef, on KABC 790 AM in Los Angeles of which guests include Wolfgang Puck, Venus Williams, Billy Bush, Chef Michael Mina, Chef Ben Ford, and Divya Gugnani of MSNBC. Susan Irby the Bikini Chef is a Celebrity Emcee, Host, and Judge for culinary competitions, Public Speaker as a fitness expert, healthy lifestyle expert, culinary expert, and successful entrepreneur and is a favorite among media. Denice Fladeboe-Mock’s automotive career started in her early teen years, answering phones and serving customers at her father’s dealerships. “For as long as I can remember my father has been in the retail automotive business,” says Denice. “Growing up in our home there were always discussions about the auto business and at a very young age my father involved me in the operations of our dealerships. I soon found that customer contact was my favorite part of the operation.”
Denice’s knowledge of her business is experience-based. Her stepping stones to eventual automotive executive included a cashier position, parts and service orders, parts sales, inventory control, bookkeeping, finance, general accounting, contract /DMV desk management, employee payroll and managing new and used car inventories. After a promotion to assistant office manager, Denice’s interest in the business grew as she became more familiar with the operations. “Over the years I have been involved in every aspect of the business,” adds Denice, “always learning on the job.”
Through the years, as her family was growing, Denice would continue to gain on-the-job experience by helping her father in any manner necessary. Recently, it became apparent that she was well-suited to help her father in the family business. “My father is now close to retiring and it is important to our family to continue the legacy,” explains Denice. “For the last 10 years I have worked full time at the dealerships and I have been laying the foundation for its future success.”
Denice attended the National Automobile Dealers Associations Dealer Academy in Virginia and completed their Successors graduate program. The lessons learned at the Dealer Academy have given her the tools to integrate her educational experience with her years of practical work experience.
In addition to her duties at the Fladeboe dealerships, and her devotion to her family, Denice always finds time
for charitable causes in the Orange County community. Denice initiated the Fladeboe Automotive Group’s
partnership with the Association of Orange County Deputy Sheriffs (AOCDS) and their memorial fund. She was also served as the President of the Executive Board for The Sophisticates of ATSC (Assessment and Treatment Services Center), a non-profit guild raising donations for counseling services for at-risk children and families in the Orange County area. Denice served five years on the Executive Board of Directors of The Sound of Music (SOM), a non-profit guild for The Orange County Performing Arts and is a 5-year member of The Center Stars, Orange County Performing Arts guild. Habitat for Humanity has partnered with the group as well.
Today, Denice serves as the Vice President and Director of Operations for the Fladeboe Automotive Group, Fladeboe Honda, Fladeboe Volkswagen and the President of Fladeboe Buick, Pontiac, GMC. In 2006, Denice was named as President of the Irvine Auto Center Dealers Association.
