Corkbar : Not Just About Wine

Corkbar : Not Just About Wine

The name Corkbar in downtown Los Angeles reminds me of a decorative art piece made of a wood frame filled with corks from wine bottles enjoyed by close friends on a random night enjoying catching up on who’s married, who’s pleasantly single, who has kids, who’s kids are in college and telling stories of days past in highschool.  And while Corkbar certainly achieves all that, it is so much more.

Chef Albert Aviles, a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu Pasadena, changes the menu seasonally but forever keeps his Corkbar signature favorites on the menu such as Grilled Cheese, Mac ‘n Cheese, and Bahn Mi Sliders ~ ground pork, cilantro, ginger to name a few of its special ingredients.  Chef Albert works in a Corkbar kind of kitchen.  There is no deep fryer, no microwave ~ thank goodness ~ and there are no heat lamps.   So, his challenge is to make everything fresh, ready to order, ready to deliver to the table, and with no deep fryer and no microwave, even the heartiest of dishes like the Root Beer Braised Short Ribs served over Cheese Polenta is certainly to find a bikini in there somewhere.

If wine is your thing, which it is mine, all of the wines at Corkbar are from California!  Hence why they are the restaurant of choice for my Bikini Lifestyles on 790 KABC show in September celebrating California Wine Month!  The Albarino Longoria was delicious but they’ve got whites, red, and rose’s across the board including one non-California wine, Veuve-Cliquot, which we’ll forgive them for since that is the signature wine of the Bikini Lifestyles on 790 KABC show!  For beer lovers, never fear. From pale ale to hearty stout, you’ll be able to enjoy beer to your hearts content.  Corkbar has got you covered.
