Vegan Bell Pepper Sauce

Vegan Bell Pepper Sauce

Red bell peppers, almonds, lemon, paprika, sea salt, cayenne pepper, maca root powder, and nutritional yeast comprise this incredibly delicious and versatile sauce that can be used as a dip, “cheese” spread, or sauce of pastas.

Nutritional yeast is a deactivated yeast harvested from beet sugarcane or molasses and is washed, dried and packaged for use. It’s nutritional properties include B vitamins, and trace minerals; it is a complete protein and therefore a good source of nutrition for vegetarians and vegans. Nutritional yeast has a nutty, cheese-like flavor and is popular as a cheese substitute for that reason. Purchase nutritional yeast in certain grocery stores, health and wellness markets or online. Maca is another health promoting ingredient in this recipe. For more on maca, read this article, Healing Maca Root
