  • Key tip… don’t over-grill the fruit. It will become mushy and no one likes mushy fruit. At least not for this recipe. 🙂

Recipe

Grilled Pears with Lemon, Mascarpone, and Balsamic
Dessert
Grilled Pears with Lemon, Mascarpone, and Balsamic layers savory and sweet flavors with natural sugars and a hint of lemon

Ingredients

1 cup balsamic vinegar
Juice of one lemon
4 pears, sliced in half and seeds removed
3 tablespoons light brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
4 tablespoons mascarpone

Instructions

In a small stockpot (boiler), heat balsamic vinegar and lemon juice over medium low heat.
Bring to a simmer and simmer until reduced to about 1/4 cup (about 30 minutes).
Preheat grill to medium high heat.
In a small bowl combine sugar, 3 tablespoons of the balsamic syrup and cinnamon.
Brush the balsamic mixture over each of the pear halves.
Place pears cut side down on the heated grill.
Grill, uncovered, for about 2 to 3 minutes.
Turn and brush again with the balsamic mixture.
Grill about 1 to 2 minutes longer.
When serving, place a dollop of mascarpone in the center of the pear and drizzle with any remaining balsamic syrup.
