Organic Farm at Rancho La Puerta

Truly a wellness travel destination I would call “heaven on earth”, Rancho La Puerta is a wellness resort that spans over 4,000 acres in the mountains and valleys of Tecate, B.C. Literally a stones throw into Mexico across the border from San Diego, California, Rancho La Puerta has been one of my favorite travel destinations for years.

When I was invited to be a guest chef at the “Ranch” several years ago, I could not contain my excitement. Not only is the cooking class kitchen – La Cocina Que Canta cooking school – at Rancho La Puerta spacious and gorgeous, participation in the cooking classes was truly one of the favorite guest activities at the resort! Some of the incredible offerings at Rancho La Puerta wellness resort:

  • Over 40 miles of guided hiking trails (I did a morning mountain hike. Just gorgeous!)
  • 4 health and beauty centers featuring a full menu of spa treatments
  • Mindfulness Reflective classes and guided meditations
  • Instructor-led aquatic and fitness classes such as kickboxing, barre, HIIT, pilates, and more
  • Pickleball courts!
  • Lacto-Ovo Pescatarian cuisine emphasis with attention to special dietary needs. No meat or poultry

One of my favorite experiences at Rancho La Puerta was going out into the farm with Farm Manager, Salvador Tinajero. This has now become one of the most popular Ranch experiences and begins early in the morning at 6:00am. Trust me, this is worth getting up for!
